Sodium Chloride Injection Solution, USP 0.9% in a 500 mL VIAFLEX flexible plastic container is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution designed for fluid and electrolyte replenishment. This isotonic solution provides essential hydration and restores electrolyte balance, making it suitable for intravenous administration in clinical settings. With a concentration of 9 g/L sodium chloride (NaCl), it offers a balanced osmolarity of 308 mOsmol/L, closely matching the body's natural fluids.

The VIAFLEX container, made from a specially formulated polyvinyl chloride (PL 146 plastic), ensures that the solution remains sterile and uncontaminated until use. The plastic container is designed to be flexible, allowing for easy handling and administration of the solution. It is important to note that while the container prevents contamination, solutions in contact with the plastic may leach very small amounts of certain chemical components, such as di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), up to 5 parts per million.

The pH of the Sodium Chloride Injection Solution is 5.0, within the acceptable range of 4.5 to 7.0, ensuring stability and compatibility with the body’s fluids.
